UnitedHealthcare takes on 1,600-stair climb at Soldier Field as Fight For Air Climb sponsor – Valpo.Life

Starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, people across multiple states gathered at Soldier Field in Chicago for a special purpose: to support and honor those with lung disease by participating in Chicago’s Fight For Air Climb. Participants signed up for the event for $35 online and $50 at the door — which contributed to the goal of raising $438,000 for American Lung Association — and took on the challenge of climbing Soldier Field’s 1,600 stairs.

With the daunting task of ascending 1,600 stairs at Soldier Field ahead of them, many participants chose to take on the challenge as teams, contributing to the uplifting atmosphere that pervaded the event.
“Everyone comes here for a reason. There’s always a personal connection,” Cheryl Jenkins-Peterson, director of network management at UnitedHealthcare, said. “Each year, this event brings us together and it’s always something special. People share heartfelt stories about loved ones affected by lung disease or lung cancer. It’s such a meaningful event, and I am grateful to everyone who came out today.”
With $3,470 contributed to support American Lung Association through the Fight For Air Climb, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) was a proud presenting sponsor of the event, one of the top 10 teams, and one of the top five companies. This is the 16th annual Fight For Air Climb, and it’s not the first year UHC has sponsored and participated in the event. UHC Vice President of Sales, Mike Telesky, is proud of UHC’s continued involvement in the Fight For Air Climb and how it brings the community together for good.
“We’ve sponsored this incredibly important event for over 10 years now. Our mission is to help people live healthier lives, and that is also a goal and a mission of the American Lung Association,” Telesky said. “Our missions align closely, so by supporting their great work in the fight against lung disease, we’re working together toward a healthier community for all.”
The financial support and team camaraderie were major highlights of the Fight For Air Climb in Chicago, and these highlights were echoed across Fight For Air Climb events across the nation, including states like Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and more.
“There’s over 37 climbs throughout the nation and this event really helps create awareness on lung health, education around resources for those impacted by lung disease, really helping us raise critical funds to go towards research and advocacy,” Danielle Trojanek, executive director of the American Lung Association, said. “We’re here for a day of celebrating those that have been impacted by lung disease, and their loved ones. And we’re here to celebrate all of those that are currently fighting this terrible disease.”

Tinubu hosts Danish Queen, eyes agribusiness, education reforms – The Sun Nigeria

24th June 2025
President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, receive in audience Her Majesty Mary Elizabeth, Queen of Denmark, in State House, Abuja. Tuesday 24 June, 2025
From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, received Her Majesty Mary Elizabeth, Queen of Denmark, at the State House, Abuja, marking the Danish monarch’s historic first visit to Nigeria. The meeting, co-hosted by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, focused on strengthening bilateral ties with an emphasis on livestock development, education, and social welfare.

Denmark has a longstanding partnership with Nigeria in advancing sustainable development and humanitarian support, particularly for internally displaced persons in conflict-affected regions.
According to a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu underscored the vast potential of Nigeria’s dairy and livestock economy, especially given the country’s rapidly growing population. He described the sector as a critical driver for job creation, rural development, and national food security.

“We can convert that friction into structured economic opportunity and provide education pathways—even for farmers and herders. We can stabilise communities, grow our food systems, and lift millions out of poverty,” he said, referring to ongoing conflicts between farmers and herders as challenges that can be transformed through investment and modernisation.
Highlighting Nigeria’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Denmark, President Tinubu called for expanded partnerships in knowledge transfer, veterinary health, and sustainable agribusiness practices.
He praised Danish investments in Nigeria, notably by companies such as A.P. Moller–Maersk and Grundfos, for their contributions to infrastructure and food systems. He also acknowledged Denmark’s humanitarian support for internally displaced persons in conflict zones, expressing optimism for continued collaboration as Denmark assumes the EU Council presidency and a seat on the UN Security Council in 2025–2026.

President Tinubu linked these efforts to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising that managing Nigeria’s projected population of 400 million by 2050 requires targeted investments in agriculture, education, healthcare, and employment. He called for foreign investment that bolsters local production and job creation.
On the social front, the President welcomed the partnership between Her Majesty and Nigeria’s First Lady, particularly on initiatives such as school feeding programmes and the reduction of out-of-school children.
The First Lady, Mrs Tinubu, emphasised the need to transform traditional Islamic schools to ensure formal recognition of the knowledge they offer as part of broader educational reforms.
Queen Mary thanked President Tinubu and the First Lady for the reception and expressed sympathy over the crisis in north-east Nigeria.
She said she was in Nigeria to strengthen relations and explore investment possibilities in the green economy, trade and business development for women, child health, and cultural and educational exchanges.
She commended the First Lady for supporting women and families with the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative Programme. She also said she would visit the A.P. Moller–Maersk terminal in Lagos on a business trip.

Top Aide to NYC Mayoral Candidate Mamdani Lauded UnitedHealthcare Killer: 'Looking Forward To Driving Down Mangione Avenue' – freebeacon.com

Top Aide to NYC Mayoral Candidate Mamdani Lauded UnitedHealthcare Killer: 'Looking Forward To Driving Down Mangione Avenue' – freebeacon.com

The campaign political director for socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani (D.) expressed admiration for accused murderer Luigi Mangione in recently unearthed Facebook posts, writing in one that he looks forward to driving down a street renamed in Mangione’s honor.
Mangione “is adored not only because he dared to target a leader of one of the most vile, self-enriching industries darkening our society today, but because he dared to defy the stasis of nihilistic rejection,” Julian Gerson, who has worked for Mamdani’s campaign since March, wrote last December in social media posts reported by the Daily Mail.
“The question is not whether he was right or wrong,” Gerson went on. “It’s how many others he has shaken loose.”
In another post, Gerson suggested that a street should be renamed in honor of Mangione, writing he was “looking forward to driving down Mangione Avenue a few decades from now,” the Daily Mail reported.
Mangione, 26, is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel on Dec. 4, 2024. Attorney General Pam Bondi in April directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Mangione.
Gerson in the social media posts also described Mangione as “one of the few entities not rejected online” and said that “while his remarkable good looks hardly hurt, anyone who thinks his acclaim is rooted primarily in aesthetics (looking at you, Vanessa Friedman) is missing the point, probably on purpose,” according to quotes screenshotted by John Podhoretz.
Gerson appears to have taken down his Facebook page following the Daily Mail‘s report.

The political aide’s remarks surfaced as his boss is polling in second place behind former New York governor Andrew Cuomo (D.) in the mayoral race.
Mamdani, a state assemblyman from Queens and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has long faced scrutiny over his far-left stances, particularly his anti-Semitism. The candidate earlier this month defended the phrase “globalize the intifada,” a popular chant at anti-Israel protests that calls for violence against Jews worldwide. The mayoral candidate instead described the anti-Semitic slogan as showing “a desperate desire for equality and equal rights in standing up for Palestinian human rights.”

Following Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel, Mamdani took to the street and was arrested outside Sen. Chuck Schumer’s (D., N.Y.) home in Brooklyn, demanding that Schumer stop Israel from retaliating against Hamas terrorists.
Mamdani has also refused to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist, expressed support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, and declared that, if elected mayor, he will not visit the Jewish state.

Fact check: are US tariffs really bringing in $2bn a day as Trump claims? – The Guardian

Fact check: are US tariffs really bringing in bn a day as Trump claims? – The Guardian

US president may have used some hypothetical maths but chances are slim that such sums are being raised
Donald Trump has defended his tariffs by arguing that they are already raking in almost $2bn (£1.6bn) a day for the US.
Speaking after more than $5tn of losses on the US stock market since his “liberation day” announcement last week, he made the claim on Tuesday, adding: “America is going to be very rich again, very soon.”
Trump did not give any evidence for his $2bn claim, which is tough to substantiate and raises big questions about how his tariff plans are supposed to fit with his broader economic and fiscal policy.
As seismic as his tariff plans are, it is highly unlikely that $2bn a day is being raised, or ever could be.
First, there is a timing point. Trump’s 10% baseline tariff came into effect on 5 April, while additional rates for some countries – including a 104% charge on Chinese imports – came in from 00.01 EST on Wednesday. Some extra revenues are therefore likely.
However, the announcements exempt goods already loaded on to a vessel at ports and in their final transit to the US. With shipping from China taking at least two weeks by sea, any imports charged with the 104% tariff rate are likely to be some way off.
Second, there is the scale of the additional revenue. Figures from the US Treasury department show “customs and certain excise taxes” have, on average, totalled about $200m a day so far this month. For the entire month of February, $7.25bn was raised. About $75bn in customs duties and excise taxes have been raised in the roughly six months since the US financial year began on 1 October, significantly short of the $700bn annual figure Trump is alluding to.
To get to that tenfold increase overnight, one possibility is that Trump has used some hypothetical maths.
Last year the US imported about $3.2tn in goods. If a 104% tariff had been applied to all the $438.9bn imports from China, that would have raised about $456.5bn, or about $1.25bn a day.
Applying a 10% tariff to the remainder in an incredibly rough application would raise another $800m a day – surpassing the daily $2bn total even without taking into account the elevated tariffs on nearly 60 other trading partners and steel and car levies Trump has announced.
However, the chances are slim that such a static calculation would ever bring in such sums in reality. That’s because border taxes are not primarily designed as revenue raisers but as a way to penalise imports and promote domestic goods. Only the most desperate customer would pay twice the face value of a product. That demand destruction will therefore most likely lead to a sharp fall in imports, rather than a large rise in tax revenue.

Tariffs are also likely to have a chilling effect on the US economy, with a severe impact on jobs amid the growing risk of a recession, which would have a damping effect on raising federal taxes elsewhere. Economists agree that tariffs would be ultimately paid by US consumers, as the buyers of imported goods, meaning Trump is touting one of the largest tax rises in recent history.
According to analysis by the Tax Foundation thinktank – before Trump raised the stakes with a 104% tax on Chinese imports – the tariff plans as they were when first announced on 2 April could raise $2.9tn in revenue over 10 years if made permanent, or about $300bn a year on average: still significantly short of Trump’s $2bn a day claim.
However, the economic damage they would inflict reduces that revenue to about $2.3tn. Trump has said the revenue could be used to help cut taxes for US businesses, but the foundation estimates that the changes could cost $4.5tn over the next decade, undermining his calculations.
There are, however, further problems: if the idea is to choke off imports from overseas to prioritise US manufacturing, then the aim is not to raise money. And if the tariffs are a bargaining chip to be trimmed back once deals are struck with trading partners, they will again not have the revenue-raising powers he proclaims.

How to protect your mental health in a time of global uncertainty – KATC

How to protect your mental health in a time of global uncertainty – KATC

Menu
LAFAYETTE PARISH — News of the latest tensions between the United States and Iran sparked a weekend of conversation among political leaders, experts and everyday residents. Many residents are unsure what it all means for the future.
Mental health professionals say that uncertainty, paired with constant exposure to global conflict, is fueling a rise in emotional strain across communities.
Phyllis Babineaux, a licensed clinical social worker with Social Work Answers, says the constant exposure to crisis can become mentally draining.
“I think the more you’re exposed to it, the more you think about it, the more it’s going to play a role in how you feel,” she said.
Babineaux said the nonstop stream of unsettling news can quickly become overwhelming and advises residents to limit their consumption.
“You don’t want to be monitoring it 24/7,” she said. “That will definitely lead to increased anxiety, concerns about the future and how it will impact you, your family and the world.”
“I think that this impacts everyone and we need to acknowledge it, because it is going on,” Babineaux said. “But I don’t think it should be the focus of everything.”
Babineaux who works with children and adolescents in New Iberia, encourages families to have open conversations at home, especially with children who may be confused or overwhelmed by what they see and hear.
“Something like this is a trauma to a child, and we have to be careful that we don’t add to that trauma,” she said. “Give them the information they want in ways they can understand. Sometimes, it just starts with having a conversation with your children.”
While you should limit your exposure, Babineaux says its important to have a healthy balance and boundaries.
She encourages residents who are feeling overwhelmed to speak to a professional for help.

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday in Abuja expressed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen ties with Denmark in livestock development, agribusiness, and educational cooperation.
The President stated this at the State House while receiving Queen Mary
Elizabeth of Denmark, who is visiting Nigeria as Patron of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit marks the Queen’s
first visit to Nigeria.
Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, emphasised the need to expand Nigeria’s dairy and livestock economy to ensure food security and tackle poverty.
He said the sector holds vast potential for job creation and rural growth, especially with Nigeria’s rapidly growing population.
The President expressed optimism that investment, education, and modernisation will help curtail the protracted herder-farmer conflicts in the country.
“We can transform friction into structured economic opportunity and build education pathways for farmers and herders,” he said.
“We can stabilise communities, grow food systems, and lift millions out of poverty,” Tinubu said.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s demographic strategy as a pillar of foreign policy, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President said targeted investments in agriculture, education, healthcare, and jobs are crucial as Nigeria approaches a projected 400 million population by 2050.
He highlighted ongoing macroeconomic reforms and urged for foreign investments that boost local production and employment.
The President acknowledged Danish contributions to agriculture and maritime infrastructure in Nigeria.
He specifically lauded companies like A.P. Moller–Maersk and Grundfos for supporting Nigeria’s infrastructure and food security.
Tinubu also praised Denmark’s humanitarian support for internally displaced persons in conflict-affected regions.
He expressed hope for stronger cooperation as Denmark assumes the EU Council Presidency and joins the UN Security Council in 2025–2026.
On the social front, Tinubu welcomed Denmark’s partnership with Nigeria’s First Lady on school feeding and reducing out-of-school children.
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, in her brief remarks, stressed the importance of integrating traditional Islamic schools into Nigeria’s formal education system.
Responding, Queen Mary thanked the President and First Lady for their warm welcome and expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria’s northeast.
She said her visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore investment in green energy, women-led businesses, and child health initiatives.
The Queen also emphasised enhancing cultural and educational exchanges between Denmark and Nigeria.
She praised the First Lady’s efforts to empower women and families through the Renewed Hope Initiative Programme.
Denmark, she noted, has maintained a strong development partnership with Nigeria, especially in humanitarian aid for displaced populations.

Younger Generations Turn to AI Fitness Apps – Fitt Insider

Younger Generations Turn to AI Fitness Apps – Fitt Insider

Copyright © 2025 Fitt. All rights reserved. Privacy Policy.
AI fitness is in the eye of the beholder.
Locked in. According to ABC Fitness, 61% of consumers have used AI to track workouts, and 49% rely on it for nutrition. Leading the way, nearly half of Gen Z and millennial users engage with AI-powered fitness and wellness apps daily.
But while adoption rises, trust, accuracy, and impact are lagging.
Doubtful. Only 33% of Gen Z and 43% of millennials fully trust AI-powered fitness apps, while just 17% of boomers engage with these tools, citing privacy concerns, lack of personalization, and poor usability.
With nearly half of users reporting irrelevant or inaccurate suggestions, many tools still fall short of delivering real value.
All business. To win over skeptical consumers, operators can turn AI into a competitive advantage by personalizing programs, integrating wearables, and building trust through usability, transparency, and outcomes.
Takeaway: Adoption is outpacing impact. To close the gap, fitness brands must align tech with immediate user needs and deliver solutions that feel less like prototypes.
